keppra=lowered immunity????

Mon, 04/11/2011 - 10:26
y four yr old was diagnosed w/ BRE last summer. We started Keppra in July
2010. This winter has been horrible for us. She has basically been sick since
January. First a 12 day stomach bug, then a cough/headcold that lasted three
weeks, etc, etc, etc. Now she is sick AGAIN w/ a terrible cough, runny/stuffy
nose. Always starts w/ a fever for a few days and I guess the fever doesn't
work and she winds up catching whatever she is trying to fight off.

We have been to the ped 5x since 1/1 for sick visits. Probably in her first
three years of life we went MAYBE 3x for sick visits.

Anyone else? any suggestions?

Thanks,
Brenda

I get colds several times a year or more now that I am taking Keppra. Before it was once, or twice a year at most. The colds seem to stay around longer as well. I don't have any suggestions besides vitamin C. I know someone who swears that Pau D'Arco works like magic if you take it at the first sign of a cold. I don't know if it's ok for kids.

I'm like that too. I started taking Keppra and am ALWAYS sick now. :(

Soup, fluids, and rest are the only think that help me.

Also, I take 2000mg a day.

Good Luck!
