April, my daughter has seizures also. hers started as simple partial, then she had 3 grand mals, now she is having absence seizures. Alot of time you do not notice them unless you are watching for them. I know with Lauren's hers are so quick that unless you are staring at her you do not notice. Is your daughter on any medication? lauren was placed on trileptal back in feb. Alot of times it will just look like you are daydreaming. Try watching your daughter and see if you see anything different. Good luck, and feel free to chat with me anytime. Mom to Lauren age 9,

I've have absence seizures for about a year now. I'm thirteen years old. The only advise I have is try not to treat your child differently. When I got the diognosis my mom treated me differently. Like a little child. The only people who didn't treat me differently was my friends. Try to be open to your child and try to spend more time with them. Having seizures almost has to make you more mature. Because you have to remember to take our medicine. And before you do anything you have to think, ok I might have a moment while I'm doing this,it'a always in the back of mind.

Hello peeves7,,, I just wanted to say how impressed i am with your response and how mature it was.. i have seziures and my son is being tested as well,,he will be going for his sleep eeg in january,,,right now he is having aprox,,,3 eposiodes a week.. like you he is 13 (smile) and i agree ,,,i dont treat him diffently,,,though it is hard at times for parents...but at the age of 13 you guys are old enough to be aware of things you need to watch out for and any saftey mesaures you need to have in place...it will definately make you a stronger person in the end..
