did they come back ?

Wed, 07/28/2010 - 17:41
so i used to get siezures when i was younger, the ones where i would black out, and drop,
i dont know what age they stoped but i was pretty young, i think pre-school

but about a year or 2 ago (im 15) i experienced 4 blackouts where i would blackout, then wake up staring at the sky, not much time had passed , at the time i thought i maybe just passed out, but i was researching and i related my siezures when i was younger to my blackouts now.

does anyone have any idea, do you think my siezures could be back ?
should i tell someone about my blackouts ?

I'm sorry to say, my seizures DID come back after many years.  It's time for you to get tested again.

I would suggest you skip the EEG, because it is very superficial and does not measure activity very deep in your brain.  It can help identify the location, severity, and type of seizure disorder. An abnormal EEG does not diagnose epilepsy nor does a normal EEG reading exclude it.

Instead get:

Video EEG Monitoring – it's a prolonged simultaneous recording of the patient’s behavior along with the EEG. Seeing EEG and video data at the same time permits precise correlation between seizure activity in the brain and the patient’s behavior during seizures.

Video-EEG can be vital in the diagnosis of epilepsy and epileptic seizures. It allows the doctor to determine:

Whether events with unusual features are epileptic seizures…
The type of epileptic seizure, and…
The region of the brain from which the seizures arise.

This is important.  So at least you know where you stand. Please make an appointment with a neurologist and do it...now.

If you're looking for a neurologist, there's a list of them, recommended by the eforum members of the EFA, based upon positive personal experiences.  Just go to my website and search for Comprehensive List of GOOD Neurologists...Epileptologists...Neurosurgeons...and Pediatric Doctors.

Good luck!     Phylis Feiner Johnson   www.epilepsytalk.com
