Concerned Mother

Hello everyone. New to this forum. My husband and I recently adopted a 4 year old boy who has been having seizures. We have a consultation with a pediatric neurologist in a few months, but until then we are on edge. Since our son was in foster care, we have pretty limited knowledge of his previous history. We know that at age 16 months he had a febrile seizure. He had 1 more febrile seizure at 19 months, and then another seizure that was afebrile a few months later. He would have been seizure free for 2 years Sept 2017, but he recently had a seizure in April. (First one we have witnessed). We strongly believe that stress may have triggered the seizure, but cannot be sure. It is important to note that he has completely normal development in all areas. During the seizure, we were in the car so he was in his car seat. He was staring off blankly and started drooling. I pulled over and grabbed some baby wipes for the drool. He grabbed the package from my hands and began to spin the package and bite each corner. He was making smacking movements with his lips. I gave him his blanket and told him to snuggle it while I rubbed his forehead and told him to go to sleep. We never noticed any tonic or clonic movements. The seizure episode lasted about 1 minute and he did eventually fall asleep. He slept for about 2 hours and upon waking he threw up. He was very disoriented and sleepy for another 2-3 hours after and complained of intense stomach pain. Afterwards, he returned completely to normal. He recently had another episode this past week. He was at school and had the same symptoms as what we witnessed in the car. They did tell us he fell from his chair but it could have been due to the loss of consciousness. They also said his hands were tight to his chest. We have some records indicating that his CT scan was normal, but this was done when he was an infant. Also, we are missing part of the EEG records so that is of little help (Also done when he was an infant). I contacted a trusted adult neurologist and described his seizures- she stated it sounded like it was most likely benign and there was a chance he could outgrow it based on the fact that he does not have any developmental delays. We know that the EEG is a very important factor in determining what type of seizures these are. Just looking for some support and comfort as we wait for our appointment to figure all this out. Thank you!
