Childhood Absence Epilepsy and Incontinence

Thu, 09/11/2014 - 15:17

Hi, I'm new here.  My daughter will be 7 this month and last August she was diagnosed with Absence Epilepsy.  She still has several seizures per day.  She is currently on 2 different types of medications, after being on 2 previous ones that were not working.  Within the last month - maybe 2 at most, she has started wetting herself during some of her seizures.  Today in school she had two accidents.  Under the recommendation of her current neurologist, we are getting second opinion on how to treat her condition, but her appointment isnt until the end of October.  Is there anything I can do to help her in the mean time? I feel so awful for her;  she is in 1st grade and is starting to become really embarrassed about wetting her pants when she's been potty trained since she was 2.  I don't know how to help her. :( Any advice, support, or suggestions are welcome.  Thanks!
