Im just really wondering if there is someone on this website girl or guy that is fresh out of high school-(seems to me its just worried parents-no offence to the parents) ???And if theres anyone on the track to college, just want to talk to someone other than my parents and 'normal' friends about life after highschool and collegelife with epilepsy. If your wondering im a 17 year old girl with JME and about to be a freshman in community college with undecided major.

My daughter is 16 - headed to college next year (is a junior this year - but will graduate after the end of her Junior year) - she was diagnosed about 6 weeks ago - its been a tough go for her - email her, she could use to talk and I bet you could too.  Her email is MaggieReisdorf@gmail.com

 Thanks,
Stacy

You sure called us parents out on this one!  My daughter is a freshman at a state university.  We recommend that you seek out your college's office for students with disabilities, if you have not already done this.  For example:  my daughter informed her U that her seizures are infrequent, but they will happen first thing in the morning, so she needs classes that start later in the day.  The U was unable to accomodate her for the first semester of this, her freshman year, but she will have first pick of class schedules for all other semesters, because she is registered as a student with a disability.

I'll let her know that there are chat opportunities out there, she's not big on emails that aren't school related but she does have a Facebook.  She has had seizures since age 11, is on her third different med, and her seizures are currently about 95% controlled.  She is also a veteran of 17 straight days in an epilepsy monitoring unit in 2010 (me, too, since a parent was required).  She chose her U based on majors offered and the excellent public bus system in the city where the U is located, so she can manage her own transportation.

Hey, I'm a junior in college and first developed seizures while applying, so I understand any troublesome issues or concerns when it comes to this sort of thing. I would love to help you out with any questions you have :) Vanessa
