3 yr old diagnosed with epilepsy

Tue, 03/15/2016 - 11:46
Hi everyone, My 3 1/2 year old son starting having seizures last August. He had two focal seizures with no known cause and went five months without having any. Then he recently had 3 in the last two weeks. The first two EEGS were normal and the third one shows abnormalities. I want to know how can previous EEGs be normal and then the third one has issues, that seems confusing to me? His neurologist wants to start him on keppra. We told her we are not ready, as I want to try some natural methods. Has anyone had any success with natural methods? Currently we are giving him fish oil, epsom salt and taking him to a Chiropractor. Also, how has keppra worked for your child? We are nervous about starting him on meds that will make him hyper as he is already a busy body Any advice would help ... P.S- I just get this sense from the neuro that they don't know alot about seizures and epilepsy. I still wonder how my healthy son just developed this all of a sudden :S (ie: no family history or head injuries)
