what is this? weird things happening sometimes at night

Not sure if this is the right place to post this.. Just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone before. This has never happened before until I started taking topomax so I'm not sure if it's because of topomax. I used to be only on keppra but doctor took me off of keppra a month ago and put me only on topomax. I have focal seizures, scarring on my left temporal lobe. Currently I'm only taking 150 mg of topomax a day (75 mg 2x a day) that's all I can handle, the side effects are too much. So far I have felt pretty good for about 2 weeks (knock of wood) Anyway, this I have had these really strange "out of body" experiences happen at least 3 times that I can remember in the last few weeks where I can't tell if I was dreaming or if it was really happening to my body because it feels so very real. I even told my husband I feel like I'm losing my mind and I'm terrified. I'm keeping a journal as best as I can with the accounts of my day before and my sleep schedule because I don't sleep well with topomax already and after each episode it seems my sleep pattern is worse. many days pass between episodes I hate to call neuro because I call her about every little thing ... Could they be some kind of seizure in my sleep? I've never had convulsions. Episode 1 ~I could see myself sleeping, it felt like I was going in and out of consciousness, and it was like I could stay asleep every time I would doze off it was like I would get zapped and my eyes would pop open and I'd be wide awake again Episode 2 I felt and seen myself with my back arched and felt like I was stuck in that position. when the alarm woke me up in the morning I was sore and had a severe headache. Episode 3 ( last night ) Someone or something had me by the feet and I was squirming trying to get free and I was trying to scream but couldn't make a sound. I woke up terrified. Of course my husband doesn't wake up..he doensn't witness or feel me moving, but I could be jumping in the bed and not wake him. Am I losing my mind or am I having very vivid dreams? Should I tell my neuro in case I'm having some kind of new seizures in my sleep? I'm starting to worry...

What you posted could be seizures or parts of seizures. Yes there are seizures a person has that happen during their sleep. nocturnal epilepsy. As for the type of seizure I don't know but it does vary. As to why the neurologist changed your medication.. No information was posted on that, IF you had a few more seizures then a dosage adjustment could have been all they was needed. You do need to call your neurologist because their assistants can answer your quetion or they will get your neurologist for the answer. In some seizures your body does not move so even if you were convulsive or felt like you were were tumblinf on him he wouldn't have felt it.Do call and try to get answers. All that may be done is a dosage adjustment. Calls take less time and setting up an appointment takes time. Then waiting for the appointment can be an additional 2-4 weeksI hope this helpsJoe
