What is causing my Seizures?

Thu, 08/27/2015 - 13:12

I don't know what kind of seizures i'm having or what is causing them but its getting annoying. I have noticed a pattern every time I've had one though. I've only had about 5 of them altogher including my first one. It was the summer of 2006 (I was 22 at the time) and I remember just laying in bed next to my girl friend.  I was starring at the smoke detector light as I started fallin asleep. I remember my right eye was twitching a little but that was it. The next thing I remember was my brother and friend looking over me and I remember thinking I was just really drunk. I must have kept blacking in and out because the next thing I remember was crawling up my steps, then being outside freaking out asking my girlfriend why she was leaving. Once I got back inside my brother kept saying he thinks I had a seizure but I kept yelling at him because I had no clue what was going on..nobody did.

About a month later I was at my girl friends apartment and it was about 3 in the morning when we went to bed. It must have been within an hour or so I woke up and my eye was twitching again. I knew what was happening this time but I couldn't talk or move. I remember my girl friend turning the light on and that was it. Next thing I know I'm walking around her apartment while her and her friend were telling me to sit down but I didn't want to. After that we went to the hospital and had tests done but everything was fine. I went to a nuero. and they tried to trigger one but couldn't. I got put on dylantin and i've been taking that ever since. I don't feel like that has done anything for me though.

About 3 years ago I was laying on the living room floor playing xbox waiting for my friend to get online and ended up falling asleep. Samething, I woke up, eye twitch thing, next thing I know i'm sitting on my couch and my wife is telling me the ambulance is on the way. About 6 months ago the same thing happened. I was laying on the living room floor watching tv and my wife was making dinner, I ended up falling asleep for not even that long maybe 10 minutes, and I woke up to the eye twitch so I got up and it seemed like it was going away...then next thing I remember i'm walking around the house back and forth from the living room to the bedroom not knowing why. Then this past Sunday during the day maybe around 3 or 4 in the afternoon my wife and I fell asleep cause we were up late the night before. We must have been asleep for an hour maybe and I woke up quick and shot up knowing what was about to happen. I was holding my hand over my eye because of the twitching and I felt my wife grab me and that was it. Next thing I know i'm walking around my house back and forth again for no reason. I guess I even went outside and walked back in freaking out.

I don't know why it seems to only happen while i'm sleeping and it wakes me up with about 5 seconds before I go into it. I get that eye twitch thing during the day now but nothing happens when i'm up and moving around, only when i'm sleeping. No matter how many doctors or people I talk to nobody seems to have a clue what i'm talking about. Nobody who has seizures seems to have them like I have them. I've never heard anybody talk about eye twitching and seizures together before but now I wish I knew something. Anything?

Ok have you talked to any of your doctors about these episodes? I not you might want to and see what he/she says.Considering Nocturnal seizures take place either in the sleep of right before and after sleep. Yes there are seizures which only have twitching in them. I have focal seizures and originally they were twitches in my right hand. It also felt weird or numb. When I had my first grand mal seizure I didn't know what happened during the seizure since in those the person loses consciousness. I was at school on the outside BB courts and talking with friends before class. The next thing I knew was I was being carried into the nurses office by 4 senior football players. I found out thru talking with friends that what they saw was me pulling my arms inside my jacket. Walking over to the benches stacked on top of each other. Climbing on top of them. Standing up. Pulling my head inside my jacket and standing up then falling face first onto the court. I then went into a convulsion. So looking at all that  a twitch is nothing. But those twitches in m right hand were seizures. Focal seizures are basically simple partial seizures. They can last a few seconds but at times longer. They too can generalize and become complex partial or convulsive looking like a grand mal.If you have had 5 of these then you may have epilepsy and in order to find more out you need to see a doctor. A neurologist specializing in epilepsy would know more, If you get an appointment set by all means take your brother and others that saw you in any of these since the more information the neurologist gets the better he has to come up with the diagnosis. I hope this helps and you get the assistance you needJoeAnybody at any age be they rich or poor can get epilepsy.
