Weird dreams

Wed, 08/17/2016 - 00:03
I'm wondering if anyone has experienced strange and vivid dreams after starting Keppra? About six months ago, Keppra was added to my Lamictal; and a few months in, the dreaming started and has become bothersome. I have never dreamt this way in my life. I started Lamictal when I was 17 and I'm 32 now; so the only thing that is different is the Keppra. Any thoughts or comments?

I was using keppra for many

I was using keppra for many years. Doc said I could get better control which I wanted since I was having 2-4 a week compared to having 4 a month. Back then the maker of vimpat wanted it tested to see how it worked with keppra. Well I was Doc's first test patient. I used it for a month then returned with the diary I had to use. I have been using the combination since then with no problems. However I have had different medications that did cause issues like yours. So if you see your neurologist discuss it with him. there are a lot of medications that can be coupled with keppra that can help control your seizures.

I was only on Lamictal (600mg

I was only on Lamictal (600mg/day) at first and then after a seizure the Neurologist added Keppra (2000/day). I also take Effexor ER (225/mg). All of these medications were changed around the same time. The Effexor info stated it could effect dreams so I never suspected Keppra. Interesting. My dreams are normal most of the time but I have many nights with such VIVID dreams that I cannot tell them from reality which is really scary. I have even called my mom and asked her if we had conversations or if she came over. I would be a little more concerned if I was working or had children still at home. I am just glad that they are not scary or upsetting. My scary and upsetting dreams from normal depression and PTSD and anxiety have pretty much stopped. Not sure which med helped that (Lamictal started as a psychiatric drug) but I am just glad the scary dreams stopped. BUT I do not like not being able to tell some of my dreams from reality.

Few weird onesKeppra

Few weird onesKeppra dream1Andie and I bought a beautiful old stone home with a 10’ wrap around porch in New Tripoli from an older couple who had decided to move closer to the city because of failing health. Home sat alone at an intersection where there was virtually no traffic. I had done some landscape cleanup for them when they expressed their interest in perhaps moving. We took Matty up with us to discuss the sale and they liked us, especially Matty, so much that they sold it to us for half price. The couple mentioned that half of the 3 acre property was a cornfield directly across the street. The farmer would give us $400 to farm it, also would pay the taxes. This place was surrounded by cornfields.Immediately after moving in I sensed that there was a spring running along the front between the street and the home. I removed all the debris revealing the stream with frogs, minnows and the like, natural stone walls on both sides. I planted some ferns and water lilies to dress it up.After inviting Peg and Greg up for a 7/4 party my mother came walking across the street from the area where we owned that extra 1 1/2 acres. She poured herself some lemonade and said dad was coming too. Then my uncle Bob Jesberger, aunt Celia and uncle Joe, Gram, Andie’s uncle Joe, our dead friend Tony and Granny and Grandad showed up. All of course had been dead for years. We had an amazing barbecue with dad preparing chicken from an old hibachi which was strapped to a railing out back adjacent to the porch. We ate the most colorful corn you could imagine. The corn stalks in the fields were so deep green with dazzling windswept tassles on top. All were drinking wine and beer. Lots of joints were being passed around with Granny smoking from a bong. Lots of laughter with everyone getting along famously as we listened to 40s swing music. Lots of dancing in a gravel parking area out back. We waited all afternoon for Andie’s aunt Celia to arrive but since we lived out in the middle of nowhere we assumed she was lost. At the day’s end Peg and Greg left and soon thereafter mom said goodbye and walked back across the street. Soon after everyone else followed her. We were concerned so we followed and saw them all going down into a stone well in the middle of that cornfield. We descend too and asked what they were doing down there. The area resembled our home with lots of stone and dark plank walls and floors. Tony said we should get back to take care of Matty. We said, “What, we should leave you here?” He said, “don’t worry, we’ll be back over”. So we left to take care of Matty and wait for Andie’s aunt Celia.
