Was this a seizure?

Mon, 02/12/2007 - 12:18
From age three to six, I had fairly frequent complex partial seizures resulting from a brain lesion. I'm currently eighteen, so the average doctor considers it to no longer be an important part of my medical history. I'm pretty sure I've grown out of it, if that's possible. However... Earlier this month, my roommate told me that I was doing strange things in my sleep. According to her, I made a moaning noise and my eyes shot open. I stared at her for maybe a minute before rolling over asleep as if nothing had happened. It sounds almost suspiciously like the seizures I had in my youth. However, in general, I'm pretty active in my sleep. I sleep talk almost every night. Could this just be me doing strange things in my sleep, or is it possible that I had another seizure? How common is it for something like that to resurface after twelve years?

This might possibly be a night terror. Both my daughter (3 1/2 yoa) & I have them. I've been told that I will sit strait up in bed with my eyes open & scream. Then lay back down like nothing happened. I, of course, have no idea I've done anything. My daughter will cry for what appears to be no reason, but I can't wake her. After a minute or so she's fine. Just a suggestion on what else could be happening. :)

My mom has night terrors, actually. That's entirely posible. :-) Thanks a lot. I didn't scream, though. According to my roommate, my eyes just moved like I was looking around (but I wasn't blinking.)

Hi, A common theme for my nocturnal complex partials was to sit up in bed, and say "Oh my God..oh my God!". I'd have a look of sheer terror on my face. Then, I'd lie back down and be asleep. I had/have no memory of the events. Your description sounds very suspicious to me. I'd call the doc and see what he/she says. Good luck!
