Vehicles seem to hate me, how about you?

Yup, I think cars hate me. All vehicles in fact and it doesn't seem to matter whether I'm driving or a passenger. I wonder if it's the motion. I just wish it would be a bit more consistent, you know? One day it's sudden and unexplained fatigue followed by blackouts. Next it's zoning out, complete 100% zone out. Wonder if that's pretty much a subtler form of the black outs? Other times it's smells. Today I was riding and I kept smelling a cherry pipe. My grandfather used to smoke those kind of pipes. However, my grandfather is long dead and there was no one else in the car smoking or even known to smoke and the other person in the car didn't smell anything like it. They're all different things, but they happen when I'm in a car, driving usually. They don't last more than a few seconds. But I can't understand what it is about cars that bring this about? Anyone else have problems with driving or riding?

Sitting in the back of cars that use diesel always, without fail, brings on SPS and results in a lot of vomit. But yes, the motion absolutely effects me and brings on seizures. The same if I am in a train - I have to face the direction of travel or I get very sick. And I can't read or anything else during the journey, which makes it very tedious. xox

I have always had problems

I have always had problems riding in cars. For years I always thought that it was just car sickness. I would get this nauseaed feeling and would become sort of disoriented and not be able to talk until it seemed to past. I never really could explain it until after I had my first grand mal and then I understood what was happening. I was actually having petit mal seizures all of my life and didn't realize it. Because at that time my grand mal seizures were at night when I slept I could have been having them along and not have known but riding in a car has been an issue with me and I have never been able to drive any major distance. My husband has always had to take me if I had any major trips.

Some individuals who suffer from epilepsy have seizures that, to a greater or lesser extent, can be triggered by flashing or flickering lights. Fluorescent lighting is an obvious trigger but the passage of trees, buildings, street lamps etc, as that person travels past them in a car/train, can have the same effect, especially if the light is particularly bright. This condition is not uncommon. Chris
