**Urgent - Help Confusion

Ok sorry I know this is going to be long but I have to ask. I have been on depakote for over a month not and have reach my theraputic levels for 2 weeks. They stay around 90. I take Depakote ER 500mg once in the morning and twice at night. I also take 75mgs of Lyrica twice a day. Last Sunday I decided to weed my front flower bed because it wasn't to warm outside yet and it was something I could sit down and do. After that We went over to my daughters apartment to help her move. all i did was stand around and talk to everryone else while they worked. The doctor has me off of work right now. My question is I started having seizures at my daughters apartment and didn't stop till I was taken to the ER and given Ativan by IV. My husband had given me two Ativian at home and it didn't stop the seizures and he figured it would be best to go to the ER. When we arrived at the ER it took them quit a while to even do anything according to my husband. They finally called my doctor and he gave me the choice of being admitted or going home. Sorry I know I am rattling but the question is should I go to the hospital when I havve that many seizures (it was around 25 in all) or should I justt wait it out. It is next to impossible to reach my doctor on the phone even during normal operating hours. I am just so confused on what to do. I have had the big E for 12 years but for the past 4 years have been relatively sz free. They came back with a bang. Please help.

it sounds to me like you need to find an MD who is either easier to reach or takes more responsibility for the control of your seizures. That would be my best first step suggestion.

He is good when he is there, but he makes rounds at 1am and you can never call him during the day because he never calls you back. I am just so confused right now.

Disability Advocacy Work With Networking (DAWWN) http://home.earthlink.net/~dawwn Hi, First, to be sure I understand this all correctly. Did you have 25 seizures in succession while at your daughter's and the the ER?? If so, and your doc did not respond you need to get in touch with him and ask why not? A call from ER with that info should get his attn or yes, another doc might be considered. Is this just your regular doc or neurologist? Re: the Ativan, I am not familiar with it, checked it out. It is not for seizure control. That might have been an emergency need choice, though. As to "when you have that many szrs" don't be so sure you will. Have you had a visit with your doc? What does he say about the sudden return and quantity? What is his suggestion re: a hospital stay? If he says yes, is it simply to avoid taking the call? There are many factors to consider and much of it has to do with a good conversation with the doc. I am on a reversed Depakote schedule (same 500 mg). 1 at night and 2 in the morning. That goes with 2 Neurontin at night with 60 mg of Phenobarbital. There is a total of 10 Neurontin for the day (400 mg each) and it starts with 3 in the morning. The higher number of both Depakote and Neurontin in the morning is to "refill" after the night of sleep. It has always been a higher dosage in the morning with the Depakote since I started it 30 yrs ago before the Neurontin addition approx 10 yrs ago. By the way, your email is not turned on. Don't know if you are keeping it private for some reason (it is invisible to anyone wanting to contact you) or simply not turned on in your "Manage My Account" section. peace, jw
