Update #2

The fishing trip went great !, stayed an extra day. Hard to believe but i hardly even thought about my epilepsy up there. I got fairly good sleep, drank a few more beverages than i planned but everything went smoothly... I want to throw this question out to everyone here and see what your thoughts are..Do you believe thinking about your epilepsy all of the time can actually cause a seizure?. The reason i ask, one of my supervisors has epilepsy with very violent seizures when they occur. He said he was part of a small study group that was trying to prove that simply thinking about your epilepsy or seizures all the time can induce seizures. The results were unbelievable. He said the people that put their epilepsy out of mind and just "lived" actually dropped in seizures by 50% ! This included late nights clubbing, working Ect...of course meds were taken normally aswel as any doctors instructions. The people that were consistently thinking or worring about their epilepsy had an increase in seizures by 25% ! They were instructed to always be thinking about a possible seizures, no social activities Ect... My supervisor strongly believes this what has helped him keep his seizures down to 2-3 a year from the 3-4 monthly he was having while living an "epileptic s" life as he calls it. Believe me, this man party's ! Anyway, what's your thoughts on this theory? Thanks !

Constantly thinking about

Constantly thinking about having or possibly having a seizures lets epilepsy and seizures control you. There are many of us that didn't research and just listened to the doctors and lived our lives like the guy next door to us. Why worry about something that may not happen?? Or worry what you will be doing if you have one. Seizures are time lapses some short and some long. I look at it this way. If a person looks at the entire time they have lived  and subtract the time they have in their seizures then if they used a one hour sand timer . the grains of sand may have less then a hundred pieces. I don't drive and never have. I know how and can. I still get where I am going. I fish, mountain climb and everything else most parents do. Am I bad because I use my experiences and medications to tell people about how they need to deal with epilepsy. Or am I bad when I tell some to leave their devices alone and stop researching anything and everything.Yes medications have their side effects. But ALL medications have them including the over the counter meds everybody buys and don't read the paper with those side effects. I wanted to get Doc to prescribe a medicine that could help be quit smoking. He said he wouldn't. When I asked why. That medication has a side effect that can cause a seizure prone person to have seizures. So I'll smoke fewer ciggs rather then have seizures taking a medication that can cause me to have them. It is also using common sense. Taking your meds at the same time daily does wonders . Limiting alcohol and drugs is good because alcohol a=can counter some or slow down your central nervous system which is what drugs do. So they can affect your medications. Just limit them and the therapeutic levels may stop all the break through seizures.

Good points Joe !..I do NOT condone the use of alcohol or illegal drugs for any reason but i am very honest with my Nero about my weekend drinking. Is social drinking a big part of my life?, Absolutely and when i say i don't touch a drop through out the week i mean it. Have i cut back on alcohol use on weekends because of my seizures, Absolutely, but i refuse to let epilepsy take away the things in life i love doing like, Camping, Hunting, Fishing and Sasquatch researching...yes i said it Lol, i'm a Bigfooter ! Anyway i'm not going to let this stupid illness control my life and it sounds like Joe is doing just that ! Thanks.
