My wife tells me my face/lips turn blue and I stop breathing during a complex partial seizure which scares the heck out of her. Does this happen to anyone else? CraigV 53 today:-)

My 13yo son has had roughly

My 13yo son has had roughly monthly seizures since birth, but is otherwise healthy and normal. Last week, for the first time he turned blue for a whole minute during a prolonged (15 minute) seizure. I had administered max dose of midazolam but it wasn't working. I was on the phone to the emergency services, and in a state of absolute terror. He couldn't inhale. They couldn't tell me what to do. Any advice please? I couldn't bear to go through this again without being able to help, or worse still, watching it continue. Not sure who to reach out to, the professional (a very reliable and smart consultant neurosurgeon)  has increased his meds a little, but I can't be sure that will prevent a recurrence. The message seems to be 'to try not to worry'. Is that correct?Any help very welcome.

It is very scary for anyone to watch that! It is not uncommon, though. As long as the person always pinks right up as soon as the seizure ends it is ok. If there is ever a delay and they do not, 911 should be called....some people who have this have a script for 02....
