Traumatic Brain Injury and Epilepsy

Wed, 10/05/2016 - 14:35
I sustained a traumatic brain injury in 2014, a subdural hematoma and an epidural hematoma that had to be treated by an emergency craniotomy. I had a seizure when I hit my head, was put on standard dose of Keppra in the hospital, and then began having tonic-clonic seizures 6 weeks after my injury, and breakthrough seizures every few months afterwards as we increased my Keppra doses. I'm now on 1500 mg twice a day and have remained seizure-free for a year. I can't seem to find a lot of other epileptics whose seizures were caused by brain injuries -- does anyone else here have TBI-related epilepsy?

There are many. My epilepsy

There are many. My epilepsy is from a blow to my head in a fall. I knocked out 4 teeth and cut the inside of my law and tongue. The doctors were more worried about the cuts then the big bump on my head. it was about 4 years later that my seizures started.A concussion can cause a hemorrhage and that can bleed and if not taken care of that blood can cause scar tissue. That's what happened to me
