TLE Anyone?

Sun, 02/26/2006 - 18:22
Hello to all! I've been recently diagnosed with left TLE and am not currently on meds. I don't know if I want to try them again as I had a violent reaction to Tegretol. I'm going for a second opinion tomarrow with a Neuro in Pittsburgh. Any advice? I don't lose consciousness and can still drive. Any words of wisdom from anyone? Cyndie

I wish you well with your second opinion with the new neurologist. I have gone through 4!! :) I totally believe in second opinions. What is TLE, by the way? I currently take Tegretol. What kind of reactions did you have with it? I wish you well, Cameo

Hey Cyndie! TLE has been my "probable and preliminary" diagnosis as well. I'm in the process of more tests but at the same time trying to get pregnant. If your symptoms are anything like mine I would recommend trying medications(s). The only reason I'm not on anything right now is the possible bun in the oven. These medications can make your life so much easier - just watch out & be prepared for some side effects. Don't be afraid to have an open dialogue with your doctor to let him know what is or is not working for you. I bounced around on medications before I finally found the right one for me. Hey epilepsy isn't all that bad - think of it this way - Now you have an excuse for losing your car keys, fogetting to run that errand, needing an afternoon nap, acting afool, and much much more! There's always a silver lining - you just have to see past the clouds! :} If you ever need anthing just let me know - after all, we're paddling in the same boat. - Christine
