Hi hope all's ok. I read you post and i'm just coming up to three years seizure free. I've got a review of my medication coming up next week and last year we briefly talked about how long seizure free you have to be before they reduce or stop your medication. My GP suggested between three and five years. As it will be three years for me this review we're going to talk about it but there's not a chance he can convince me to stop or lower my dose as it's working so why take the risk?! I'm on 400mg lamictal daily. Not sure what you're on or if that makes a difference. Have you spoken to your dr? I'm from the UK so like I said, procedure over here seems to be between 3 and 5 years when they'll discuss it. Have you been seizure free for those four years? x

This post really got me thinking. I haven't had a seizure for about 3 and a half years now and the last time I saw my Epi nurse she suggested starting to try and cut down on and drop two of my meds. The reason for this being that when I took Epilim and Clobazam before with other meds the seizures were getting worse, but when i started taking Keppra the seizures stopped from day one. I still take Epilim and Clobazam but the logical thinking is that Keppra is the med that is doing the trick so the others are not needed in the same amount or even not at all. The thing is do I really want to go through all that heartache and hassle again? How would I feel if I started to drop one of the meds and had a seizure? Maybe it's not just the Keppra and I've been lucky enough to find a combination that works for me? I guess I'm lucky in one respect that I live in the UK and don't have to pay for meds, it would be a whole different ball game if I was paying for them. I guess for the time being I prefer to go along with the theory that if it ain't broke don't fix it. Health-wise I'm OK and have had no bad side effects like on other meds.
