Those top ten memory thingys

Mon, 03/12/2007 - 12:23
I just read it. It's me. I'm doing what my doctor says, but does it get better? I'm really new to this stuff. I've just recently been diagnosed. I'm trying not to freak out here. But, I'm not a "sick" person. Will the memory stuff get better as the Rx kicks in? Please say yes. I feel screwed.

You know try not to get all worked up. Sometimes, it is the meds that cause the memory problem or just the seizures themselves. Depending on what kind and how many you are having. Dont let it bother you so much. You learn to adjust or work around the memory by doing different things to help you with the problem. http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/memory_problems.html http://www.epilepsy.com/articles/ar_1063661304.html take care Lisa http://www.sleep-safe.co.uk/id90.htm http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EpilepsyApproach1/

Thanks for the info Lisa. I am just shocked that I have been diagnosed with epilepsy. The good news is that the MRI showed I have no brain tumor or anything really, really bad. But, the EEG (waking-sleeping) is what made the diagnosis. The memory stuff just bothers me a lot. On the other hand, it explains a lot too...like the smells and weird feelings. Is this genetic? My mom used to taste ginger in her food even when she knew it wasn't there (she died 3 years ago) and always had weird experiences too. I could go on and on. She was never diagnosed with epilepsy, but we are a lot alike (of course) in so very many ways. This is just so strange! "I just want to live happily ever after every now and then." Jimmy Buffett"

Yes it can be inherited. Sure it is a hard thing to swallow right now. But the more you learn about epilepsy, the more you will get comfortable with it. Not that we want to be. But we have to. As for the memory you will get past it. It will always suck, but you tend to get around it by doing different things with memory. take care Lisa http://www.sleep-safe.co.uk/id90.htm http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EpilepsyApproach1/
