Thank you for being here

Hello. I found this site about a month ago and have taken the time to read some of the topics submitted here. I was diagnosed with E about 16 years ago(I suffer from grand mal seizures and am fairly well controlled) however I have felt very alone with respect to the experiences I have had over the years. Everything from meds and side effects, changing meds, driving to employers. My husband is fairly supportive but my E is never discussed with my family. It is not easy to find people who know what you are going through. I feel very alone when I have to deal with certain issues. Over the past month this has become a wealth of info for me, as I can relate to some of the experiences here. Thank you for making me feel lke I'm not alone! The support on this forum is incredible!

Welcome!! I find this site has really helped me when nothing else did. The info is great and the folks are awesome.I find it a place I can come to when no one understands. Even though my husband is very supportive it is nice to be able to talk to folks in the same boat. Please come chat some time.

Hello Lilly, My name is Cathy and I have been having seizures since about 16 but not diagnosed til age 30. I am very fortunate where I have friends and family who are very open about my epilepsy. I was out fishing for information because I had the VNS implant and was still taking so much meds and still having seizures and that is how I found this site. The people on here are really nice a give alot of good advice and support. They are very sincere. Another great site I think you would really get alot of friends and support from is www.epilepsyfoundation.com and go to the link where it says "Not another day with seizures" when you get signed in so you can log on and go to the forums, I suggest you go into the "Lounge". I am laying here in my hospital bed because I just got woke up to take my meds. Yesterday I went through 4hr surgery for a Right temporal Lobendectomy. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't someone in the Lounge telling me of a great Epilitogist in my area where I live and giving me her number. I am very tired and sore but I know the outcome of it will be well worth it. I have friends in the Lounge who made a room specially for me "Cathy surgical Waiting rooom" They are posting positive things to encourage me to pull through this and letting me know I am in their prayers. You would love that site and I encourage you to check it out. Tell them Cathy_c sent you there. Hope to see ya in there when I get up on my feet and back home. I am hoping that will be today. God Bless you and may this have been of some help to you. I think it is time to see if I can get back to sleep before the nurse comes in again to wake me. Your new friend, Cathy
