Temporal Lobe Seizures

Sat, 05/26/2007 - 10:11
I have been living a frustrated life with mood swings, numb ness-(left side of head, arm and leg) all my life. Totalled 3 vehicles and wrecked a few others, at 44 yrs old I give up driving voluntarily. I was being forced to work because Social Security has denied me several times and I am trying one last time. I do not know what to do with myself, I've lost job after job after job. At 20yrs old I started getting this kaleidescope of bright spinning colors in my right-eye triggered by bright light or just looking at a monitor. I've asked my my neuro several times and all he says:"IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH EPILEPSY!". I'm like okay...what is it? Cannot get a answer! Can anyone tell me what these lights are in my eye, what is it called, what can prevent it?

If you are not getting a good response from your current doctor, try another one! Doctors make mistakes, take on too many patients, or just aren't very good doctors (remember, there's always someone who finished at the bottom of their graduating class). Second opinions can change your life. hannah

Seems to me you at least deserve an answer to your question. what diagnostic tests have been done and what treatment is planned, if you feel like sharing? (if not its OK) I have some strange visual distortions involved in my type of epilepsy. Not all types present in the same way however. Some migraines which are actually vascular problems in the brain and not seizures (which are electrical) present with visual distortions and paralysis symptoms as well. The brain is a strange and wonderful thing. :) Unlikely you will get SSD unless you have a definitive diagnoses with multiple tests proving your case conclusively. I suspect they are not finding anything....yet. Have you tried a neuropsych doc? Hope you find answers to your questions soon. Good luck and take care. spaznurse
