Struggling with Nocturnal Seizures

Wed, 12/21/2016 - 11:56
My husband has had epilepsy since he was 21, now 45. Over the past year, something has changed and he now has nocturnal seizures on a weekly basis. At first we thought it was the one or two beers he was having, but now, even with NO alcohol, he still has them. The seizures are brief, usually 5-30 seconds. He then goes back to sleep. Wakes up feeling fine, but within an hour of arriving to work in the morning(driving), he feels weak and has to come home (usually Uber). He is terrified he will have a seizure while at work or while driving. The brief night seizures ruin his ability to function for that day. He has always taken 200mg of tegretol (carbamazaphine). What can we do? Our doctor has no solutions.
