Stress at work

Fri, 05/11/2007 - 16:28
HI All, I have recently been diagnosed with epilepsy. I had a full seizure about two months ago while shopping and was placed on Trileptal, 600 mg/day. I have not had any major events since then, but I do get partial seizures from time to time. I have noticed that they are more frequent when I have a lot of stress at work, and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for controlling stress and reducing the amount of seizures. Last night was not fun, since I had a partial for 15 minutes and my head was shaking strongly. Thanks, Hiram

Hiram: physical or emotional stress are major triggers for seizures. This can be anywhere from the flu to no sleep, or a fight with your boss. Whatever puts stress on the body will lower your resistance to a seizure. So buckle up and put on your best defense against any kind of stress. Of course we have to live in the real world, so just use common sense and take care of yourself! Best of luck - Gwen

Hi, My grand mal seizures are brought on in large part of stress and no sleep. This might not sound good and I'll probably get ripped apart for saying this but the way I found to lower my stress level is to have a cigarette. It gives me the break I need. It takes my mind off of everything. Of course I'm not suggesting picking up a habit that could potentially lead to your death but find something little you can do to take your mind off of everything, like crossword puzzles, word searches, sudoku, whatever it takes. I hope I've helped even if it's only a little.
