stress or not?

I just have a question for everyone. If you have psychogenic seizures does AED's work? All my tests have been normal so I kept thinking it was stress, but I'm taking Lamictal and as long as I take my medicine I have no problems. I get off it, it all starts again. My neuro doesn't think its stress since the meds work, but I still have my doubts. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem.

IANAE. My answer is probably. Lamictal works very differently from anything else on the market. It has a wide array uses in psychiatry. If it treats Bipolar and PTSD, then it is my guess that it might affect how your brain copes with stress too, but as I said earlier, I am not an expert. This doesn't mean your not an epileptic. This isn't medical advice. Its just someone with a very basic understanding of chemistry and brain science saying that anything that affects your brain chemistry can alter behaviors (conscious or not). If you doubt that you are an epileptic, you have a right to a second opinion.

Thanks for your reply, but before I was on Lamictal I was on Keppra which I know its not a mood stabilizer. I have also been to two neuros and they both told me I have complex partial seizures even though the EEG's have been normal. I guess I'm just in denial and looking for a reason not to have epilepsy. I just was hoping for some reason not to have a physical problem. I guess I just need to accept the diagnosis and be happy the meds work for me and I can still drive and work.
