status epilepticus ?hi I,m a 44 yr male that has had szs for 14 yrs. I took dilantin "sort of" for yrs. and although I knew it was serious I was recently sober then (13 yrs now) and starting a new life andgoing full speed and loving it so if asked how I was I was "fine" WELLLL...... I was not fine and with the huge stress of the last few yrs this "condition" only got worse and thanks to this site I have learned a lot and now realize that I have most types of szs. and not just the gmal,s as first thought . The ?.. I have had this condition (status epilepticus) many ,many ,times and last summer had 3 gmals in 8 hrs. and have never regained 40/50 % of my memory . and also as recently as this week have had constant szs in my sleep . And this no ? has disabled me . Is this term important when discussing this in the future with my neuro at the v.a. and and others ? thanks so much Rick in wichita kansas Hi. I asked this ? yesterday in the ask a ? spot and received an answer I more or less expected and am so thankfull for it . BUT would like to ask this here because I am just now realizing this happened to me and although I used to be a walking dict.I now read and re read stuff and sometimes with this " new" brain I am realizing I have I get get different responses from myself .....oops o.k. hey understood it when I typed it lol just do not ask tomorrow lol. But all b.s. aside WOW I read the basic dict. answer to this testerday while in a library and had flash back after flash of past days and hrs. and nights etc. etc..... and am skaking now thinking about how much this may mean... My first sz 14 yrs ago resembled a stroke and left the whole left side of me kind of droopy and slow I was never treated just told not to drink ,yeah right , not for a yr or so. Any respones are greatly appreciated and I just wish I was joking about how this has "disabled" me. thanks Rick

I would definitly tell the nuerologist. When I first started having multiple seizures one right after another I did not tell my Dr. I didn't realize how serious they were. He did not find out till I was brought in having status. Much better to stop it before that point if possible.

peace R.C. Thank you. Oh I plan on it but this changes everything I have and still do kind of feel like I,m lying when I am telling someone that this has disabled me . I am not trying to skate out or anything else that so many I meet are doing ,but shoot it turns out I have never known the types of szs. I have and now the fact that no ? this condition has and is happening to me and facts are facts ,my memory and my triggers are factual stuff . I am kind of suprised myself at the no. of triggers I have . and just the meds are disabling me to a level where I can barely function. Wow .......thanks Rick
