SSI to SSD?

Mon, 06/30/2014 - 19:01

I haven't worked in two or so years due to headaches and - recently - unexpected tonic-clonic seizures that have left me with severe memory loss. I've been getting SSI since 2009 or '10, but this is barely paying for all my needs, especially this year. Due to the memory loss and med changes I've found myself unable to work. Is there a way I can go from getting SSI to disability instead? Please help!

Hello. It is very hard to get

Hello. It is very hard to get SSD for epilepsy. When someone files for disability, many factors are looked at, one being how the disability affects the person on a daily basis and their ability to work. Does your epilepsy make it hard for you to be gainfully employed and able to make a living? One thing to know, it is harder to file for disability in the southern states than it is in the northern states. For many years, my boyfriend tried to file for disability based on a medical condition and how it affected his ability to work and be gainfully employed. He lived in Louisiana. Then he met me online and moved up to Minnesota with me to file for disability. After going to court with a disability lawyer, he was able to prove to Social Security that his disability does indeed make it hard for him to be gainfully employed and make a living. So he won his disability. It can take many years to get disability from Social Security and most people who try always have a disability lawyer to help them. Also, Social Security makes the person see many doctors to even see if the person has the disability that makes it hard for them to work. Good luck to you.
