I was always active in sports

I was always active in sports and would have been on many teams is my parents hadn't kept me off the teams. It wasn't just high impact sports but any teams in school. PE was fine and I would have been against a fery good friend if I had tried to get on any team. I was on a football team but I was a manager. I lettered on the varsity team when I was a freshman and the coached had to ask Mom if I could be on JV and varsity teams since freshmen games were over. I rode skateboards but that was before they were manufactured by companies, I had bikes, Baseball was one of m passions. I also rode horses, climed mountains. I ran alot and would have been beaten in dashes, Give me a long distance race against most people and they would be waxed. I loved track and could high jump 5 foot when I was 4'6" which was back in the early 1960"s. My seizures at that time were not completely controlled either. I had grand mal.petite mal and focal motor epilepsy. Back then I had convulsive seizures at school but after teh seizure I rested and went to my next class. I wanted to be treated equal. I don't know what MMA is so I can't comment on it. If you want to play then ask your parents. If they say no question them as to why. There are people playing in professional sports today that have epilepsy. Concussions can be bad or any blow to the head which could knock you out. A blow to the head can cause a hemmorage to the brain, That hemmorage can cause scar tissue, The scar tissue can be the cause of seizures or epilepsy. I know Tha is the cause of my epilepsy. Play all the sports you want but use common sense. If your parents don't want you to play fine. You can still be on the team by being a manager. They do have responsabillities. I hope this helps and your seizures get under control. Joe

some schools won't let you

some schools won't let you play football if you have seizures.  As far as MMA it may be a liability and the gym where they train may not allow you.  Skydiving companies don't allow people with epilepsy to jump.
