Sleeping and Dizzy Spells
Sun, 02/21/2016 - 12:40Hello, all. I've been having myoclonic seizures since my middle school years and as they got worse/more frequent I was diagnosed with JME my senior year of high school after I accidentally threw a tuna sandwich all over the couch and cried about it for a while (I call it the Tuna Sandwich Incident.) They put me on Keppra to begin with, which sucked, but I'm on a pretty low dose of Lamictol now (200mg a day) with little to no problems. Two years into college and I have not had a tonic-clonic yet, and I dread the day I do (I assume that I will so that, in the case I am wrong, I will be pleasantly surprised.) However, I am extremely paranoid. I tell all my loved ones basic first aid, which is a good thing. But since I've never had one I freak out a little every time something happens that I can't explain.
I've noticed lately that sometimes when I go back to sleep in the morning, I have some... what, dizzy spells, perhaps? They can range from these weird brief flashes to me laying on my back begging for the world to stop spinning. I've had the flashes here and there in day-to-day life and never really thought much of them, but having them so frequently and while I'm sleeping is a little concerning to me. This morning, I was feeling them through my dream, accompanied by the feeling of falling. It didn't wake me up or anything, but I knew that they weren't just part of the dream since that tingling, disorienting sensation in my head is too familiar and real for that.
I know auras can happen on their own without a tonic-clonic, and I know that everyone feels auras differently. Can you feel an aura while you sleep? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if these were somehow connected to seizures, since I kind of have a really crappy roommate who never lets me sleep properly. What do you guys think? Is there any way they could be related? Should I be worried?
Thank you, Sue. What kind of

Thank you, Sue. What kind of seizures were you having in your sleep, if you don't mind me asking? Were they still just myoclonic, or worse than that?
