Simple or Complex Partial...or Neither? Help Appreciated!

My mother was diagnosed with "general epilepsy" about 15 years ago. She hasn't had a grand mal since she was diagnosed. The problem is that she has these "episodes" that I'm not sure how to describe to the doctor. During these "episodes", she chiefly has delayed speech and interactions with people as well as brief staring spells (a few seconds). Her motor skills slow down only a little, but just to be cautious I refuse to let her drive or cook. After the episodes, she has told me she always remembers what has happened. However, when people are talking to her during an episode, she says the words form but it's like her brain won't let the words come out. It's easy to tell when these episodes are occurring, since normally she is fast, quick-witted and the like. Sleep has always been our fallback treatment, especially since stress exacerbates them. I only have a hunch they are partial seizures. Any insight is greatly appreciated!
