Should I go to the doctor?

I've had 6-7 episodes this week, and it's taken a toll on my mind and body. I'm having horrible migraines and I don't know if I should go to the neurologist. I was diagnosed with epilepsy after my first episode in November (I have complex partial seizures) and since I was put topamax and tegretol I usually only have 1-2 a month. I am very sensitive to flashing lights, and I tend to be more prone to seizures around my period, so I assume that's why I have been having them...but I now I am rather weak. I am wondering if you think I should go and see if I should get a change in medication now that it's spring (lightning) and see what's going on. I shouldn't be able to have this many seizures in one week in the first place, but yeah. If my mental speed hadn't slowed down enough in the first place, it definately has slowed down a bit more. By the way, I am only 18.

Hi.. You are very lucky

Hi.. You are very lucky growing up in an era where there is a medical understanding of E, many more drugs and far more tests than existed when I was your age. I had complex partial seizures for many decades and despite the fact that they aren't as outwardly dramatic as generalized seizures, truth be told we are often emotionally affected to the same degree. Sadly, some types of partial serizures are difficult to control, so today surgery is often performed after only a few meds are tried. Another truth about complex partials is it is not uncommon for people to have seizure, yet remain completely unaware one even occurred. I'd suggest you search out an epileptologist (a neurologist that has specilalized in epilepsy). Despite having been to many neurologists, it wasn't until I saw an epileptologist that I became completely controlled almost immediately & for the first time in my life. Know I wish you the best, ~sol

Well, I wasn't complete thorough in detail. I have a cyst on my pineal gland which in my opinion is most likely causing the seizures. Because at the age of 18, I randomly developed epilepsy and am rapidly getting worse at the same time we discover this cyst, I assume that they are connected. The pineal gland is the secondary master gland, has to do with the biological clock, and my seizures usually occur at the same time of the day. Ultimately, my mental speed has decreased, and even though I had my first seizure only 6-7 months ago, I feel like I am already starting to lose my memory. I think there is something wrong with this picture.

Hi there, yes I do think you should review your meds. I too am on topamax, and when I was taking this with another aed my memory was severly affected. Its improved since I've gone onto just the topamax but still is affected and I operate at a slower pace. My partial seizures have improve but my doctor always reiterates the above that I could be having seizures and not even know it. Omega3 is suppose to help with overall brain function and memory. I hope you get this sorted, good luck and best wishes.
