Seizures & a window into the afterlife???

Tue, 07/17/2007 - 21:24
Hi, I don't know where to post this so I thought I'd try here to see if any of this craziness rings a bell with anyone. I have heard about people who have seizures may have religious experiences or have some other understanding about reality that other people don't have. My daughter (age 4.5) believes she is my son (who died in 2001) reincarnated. I have never put this thought into her head, she started asking me questions last year about what's that thing called when you come back as another person? I said "Uhhhh, you mean reincarnation?" freaked out laughing too that I was having this conversation with a 4 yr old! She asks if this world is real or if there is someone reading a book about us somewhere that is making it happen. Things like that, things you would not expect a 4 yr old to be able to think about, that I believe can't be traced back to a book or movie she's seen. Now, after her recent diagnosis with partial seizures with rapid secondary generalization and probably generalized seizures too, hundreds a day, I am wondering if it is related. Anyone have any thougts or experience with this? Who knows, maybe she is just my son reincarnated but usually, if that's true, you don't remember when you come back, right, LOL! She is highly creative and I think pretty smart. Thanks. s

Sue, sorry about the loss of your son. I sounds like we're getting into the weird and unexplained, like something you would hear on Art Bell's radio show, but maybe these seizures your daughter is having is giving her an ability to "see" the other side. I will bet she will grow out of this and will talk less and less about these things as time goes on. I hope her seizures will also go away and she won't have to deal with them anymore.

Thank you for your sympathy over my son's death. I too hope she grows out of her seizures too and even though this seems to be an interesting, unique part of her, I would rather have no seizures and a typical view of life. Thanks for your perspective.

Sue, A sensation of heightened awareness or transcendence can happen before or during seizures. I go through that stage before many of mine. All of a sudden, everything seems clear - of course, just as it all makes sense, I get hit. In retrospect, the vision is murky - like a dream the next morning. As you know, there's a long list of artists, prophets and historical figures who had regular seizures. You might find this interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od5emII1wpQ Mark
