Seizures when waking up and during fitness

Thu, 03/09/2017 - 08:25
Hi all, until recently, I have only ever gotten seizures when waking up in the mornings, I suppose something strange is happening to my brain when transitioning from sleep to wakefullness, sometimes they are Grand Mals, other times smaller. However a few weeks ago something very strange happened to me, I was at the gym doing my usuall fitness routine, I got light headed when doing some jumping squats, which happens sometimes when doing jump exercise, however then I fell into a grand mal. I was very shocked since for the past 20 years my seaizures only ever occured in bed when I was waking up. I am wondering how they could have suddenly transitioned. Has anyone else experienced this before? seizures during fitness, waking up, or anything similiar. Also which meds are you on if so. Thanks. E

Those seizures when waking up

Those seizures when waking up could be nocturnal seizures. Over periods of time seizures can change. Mine did and those that I used to have were longer and stronger. Some were convulsive others were not. Today my seizures last a few seconds and most people know nothing about the seizure even if I had it while we were speaking or doing something.Discuss these with your neurologist because if your medications haven't been changed or adjusted they may need to be. I say that because the body gets used to the medication and over time they need adjusting. Especially if your body has changed. Changes like weight or even changing from a kid to a teen or a teen to a adult.

I usually have them in the mornings if I have one. I'm on Lamotrigine. Works great when I take it on time.
