Seizures Heart arrhythmia

1. Anyone know if a seizure can cause your heart to have an irregular ryhthm? 2. Does it work the other way around...can an arrhythmia cause a seizure? 3. For people who have experienced this, can it feel like it's almost skipping a beat?

i am epileptic and have shown positive for epilepsy on an EEG. i have been training for a marathon and my heart rate was registering weird, so i went to the doc and they ran an EKG which showed an arrhythmia tachycardia. it seems as though there may be a correlation between the two. studies show that an arrhythmia can be caused by damage to the heart, and i speculate that seizures could cause damage to the heart that could result in an arrhythmia.

Has anyone had a seizure while running? I sure did and it was a Grand  Mal. All tests normal so docs are assuming that a heart arrhythmia caused the seizure. I'm very frusterated since they said no running. Who knows how long it will be before the insurance paperwork goes through in order to see a Cardiologist.

So I keep wondering, what caused what? Either the arrhythmia caused the seizure or the seizure caused the arrhythmia? Do I have a seizure problem or a heart problem?

Hi Frasias, I stopped strenuous exercises because of brief "absences". This first became most noticeable during weightlifting with the heaviest weights, as the very brief periods would cause heavier weights to drop from my hands, which would get everybody's attention while I would remain standing generally, in a following very brief daze. From my early childhood history, the sequence of development of my seizures strongly point to the Long QT Syndrome leading to the development of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) shortly after the group of periods with intense seizures from the Syndrome firstly manifesting much like "pulseless epilepsy". I still have TLE more than 50 years later, and the TLE now often leads to secondarily generalized tonic-clonics without the Anti-Epileptic Drug Keppra. I haven't been able to differentiate whether the brief "absences", and following very short dazes, are another result from TLE or another type of epilepsy (which would be rare), or are another fairly common effect from the Long QT Syndrome: http://www.bostonscientific.com/lifebeat-online/heart-smart/long-qt.html and, http://jacob.puliyel.com/download.php?id=40 I stopped using over the counter flu and cold medications years ago because they seemed to make my epileptic seizures much more intense, but now many reports cite that such medications can also aggravate severe instances of the Long QT Syndrome. More reports cite that the syndrome with true epilepsy, indicates the syndrome had probably resulted in prolonged circulatory failure causing the brain damage that later resulted in the true epilepsy. http://www.qtsyndrome.ch/faq.html Tadzio
