Seizures coming back after years of not having them?

Thu, 12/25/2014 - 16:48
I am 20 years old and I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was about 9. I used to have peti mal seizures where I would just zone out, but when I was in 8th grade, my seizures got worse and I started to have grand mal seizures. I have been on the same meds since I was in 8th grade and frequently go to my neurologist and feeling fine. Recently I think I had a seizure because I haf a problem with bed wetting which has never happened before. I was so embarassed by it and wondering if this has happened to other people. Nobody in my family has epilepsy so we have no idea how I have it. Its so scary because I literally have nobody to talk to. All the advice someone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

WelcomeThis couldbe a seizure since in some seizures your body releases fluids at times. consider the fact that everything your body does is done by electrical impulses.and all a seizure is is and electricap impulse going off wrong in the brain which causes a chain reaction. A long time ago I did what you did. I also had a seizure at work and even had one in my doctors office (PCP) SO I do know it can be embarassing. You posted you see your neurologist ferequently. You also posted you have been on the same medications for years. When was the last time you had your dosages changed? If your dosage is the same as it was when you were put on them then the dosages may need to be increased. You may need a different medication. Have yu discussed this issue with your neurologist? I ask that because many of my questions have been taken care of in a phone call. If yo uhave a good relationship with your neurologiat then call and discuss this with him. You masy have had a seizure and not know about it since there are several seizures where the person loses conciousness. WHen you call have your questions written down and ask them. If you get an answer move to your next question. I have had my dosages changed with a phone call because he sent the RX to the pharmacy. I hope this helps Joe
