Seizures and memory loss

Wed, 04/02/2014 - 00:19
I have been having seizures for about 4 years now. It all started when my doctor put me on abilify for depression after my mom passed. Ever since then I have had seizures even after i stopped the abilify. but now I have constant seizures, muscle spasms and jerks, the shakes, trouble sleeping, trouble standing for long periods of time and i cant bend over for more than a few minutes at a time and i am experiencing memory loss. Is there anyone else out there who is experiencing these same side effects. and can you tell me what medication helped the best to curb the seizures?

Welcome

Welcome I checked abvilify for side effects and information this is what I found To make sure this medicine is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have: • liver or kidney disease; • heart disease, high or low blood pressure, heart rhythm problems; • high cholesterol or triglycerides (a type of fat in the blood); • a history of low white blood cell (WBC) counts; • a history of heart attack or stroke; • a history of breast cancer; • seizures or epilepsy; • a personal or family history of diabetes; or • trouble swallowing. If you had not had a seizure prior to these then you might have still had epilepsy or a seizure dissorder that was low and it taking the abilify could have been enought to start them. I am no doctor or lawyer but that is a possiability. In order to make sure you need to see neurologist who is a specialist in epilepsy. Tell him when they started and ask him questions. He will ask many questions and may want tests. One of those will be a EEG which is a brain wave test which shows the electrical output in your brain, Basically what I am saying is there are manay people out there that may have epilepsy and not know it. Their seizure threshold where their seizures have not been showing. Oh and not all seizures are convulsive as many people think. I hope this helps Joe

hey, my seizures started one day out of the blue. I had a seizure one night with no prior family history and then I continued to have them. I don't know about the abilify sorry. I started having them at 12 and have now had them for 15 years and I would say I liked Topamax the best. I lost weight on it, however my family believes I had personality changes. My memory is horrible, I cannot remember short term but I will get brief reminders of when I was in my mothers arms. It is weird.

Hi, so how long have you been

Hi, so how long have you been taking Topamax n do you think that's one of the best medician? There is no history of seizures in my family. My daughter is the only one. My daughter has no memories of when she gets it n she doesn't remember any conversations we have. It's scary cause she doesn't remember what she does in school.
