Seizure at work, told not to return until I have a sign-off from my doc

Sun, 02/26/2017 - 18:53
My meds have controlled my daytime seizures for years with the exceptions of missing a dose, changing meds, from stress, or from being sick. I've recently been sick and not eating well because of it. While on lunch at work last week I had a seizure. My boss witnessed it. She decided to bring it up to our HR department during a meeting they both attended. Supposedly the lady from HR said I shouldn't return to work until I took a job description to my neurologist and had him sign off on a fitness for duty form. I never spoke directly to HR nor saw any communication from them, just what my boss told me. She handed me my job description (which is fairly vague) and said I should make sure he understands exactly what I do. (I'm an Instrument Technician in a hospital dealing with contaminated instruments, some sharp, coming from surgery). Other than this not being communicated to me in the manner it should have and it being done because of ONE seizure off the clock, here's the kicker: she is still having me work because it's an inconvenience for her for me not to. So what do you all have to say to this? What do I do? Just go with it and get the sign off?
