Seizure Support Group

Tue, 10/10/2006 - 17:02
I have been thinking about trying to find a seizure support group. I should be going in for LTL surgery in the next few months at Emory in Atlanta, Georgia and was wondering where to begin as far as finding one. Thanks, Dawn

Dawn, I found Emory University Hospital wonderful in the field of Epilepsy, I used to live in Stone Mountain between 1998-2002. In NY the Epilepsy Foundation of America had found me a support group and they may be able to find some in different states. Go to www.efa.org and after you find the state, they can suggest things. What I want to do now is ask the hospital here in Omaha about the same thing. If they don't have a group, I'm willing to find other epileptics in this area and arrange a meeting so we can form a group. Seems like all other problems such as Cancer, Diabetes, and such get international attention and have fundraisers, and big events to promote awareness and such. Seems like Epilepsy is not getting its due attention. If I knew enough people with it, I would surely want to do something and start a Campaign for more support, and for more public awareness. People still don't know much about it. Epilepsy, still a mystery to many. Having seizures does not mean we are less of a person, just different. We are capable of loving and being loved.
