A Seizure or Not!

Wed, 04/19/2006 - 00:25
Hi everyone, Last night I went through something very strange that I never went through before. I went to bed at around 11pm and I didn't go alseep till about 11.30pm which is normal for me. I have a hard time trying to sleep. I took my medication at roughly 10.30pm -11pm so maybe this was a factor. Anyway I turned off the light and I started to feel a bit sick. I got up to take my retainer out of my mouth as that I got after having braces on my teeth. So anyway next thing i know I came to on the floor. I haven't had a major seisure since I was 13 months and I am just wondering could this have been one?? Feeling very confused at the moment as I don't know what i went through. A couple of days ago I was extremely light headed. I felt as if I was going to colaspse and I could barely even focus on a book or computer screen. Please if there is anyone out there that could tell me if you have experienced this before please drop me a message. thanks everyone Raid.

Hi friend :) I gather you

Hi friend :) I gather you take meds twice a day (typica) and that would make 10:30-11pm on the late side for the 'supper' ones. If you do not remember getting out of bed and maybe slipping (=a reason for finding yourself on the floor) your memory was nixed which, in itself, is a sign of having had a seizure. Your last paragraph describes the way I felt 2 years ago after I had my car crash. (Never having had seizures in 10 years I didn't think that had happened. But, it had.) Add your lack of memory to the late meds and I'd be inclined to say I believe you likely had a seizure. For your final question I would suggest you go to www.epilepsy.com/101/ep101/symptom.html I'm sorry for the bad news opinion ~sol

Hi Raid, I started having Noturnal Seizures several years ago. I advise you to start sleeping on the other side of the bed. I have busted my left shoulder up, injured a lower disc in my back, and injured a cervical disc in my neck. The reason, I kept falling out of bed until I wised up. My seizure comes from my left frontal/temporal lobe which makes me turn to my left so I started sleeping on the right side of my bed. I have not had a seizure while awake in 5 years, but I know when I have a seizure while asleep. Sometimes I know when I have had a seizure, and sometimes I just feel like I have had a seizure do to weakness. Good Luck, NaBox

Hiya Nabox and Sol, Thanks to you both for replying to my post. About a year ago I found out that I was having noctural attacks. I only found this out by accident as I woke up one night and I was having an attack. Although the other night was a first that I actually collasped and I don't remember what happened. Now whether I had an attack is another thing. I was wondering why I was feeling so wrecked when I woke up in the morning when I was going to bed resonably early. Yesterday I rang up the Epilepsy Hotline in Ireland. I have been advised to go see my doc on Monday and have a general check up. My Neurologist is away on holidays so I will have to wait till he gets back next week. So I will do that on Monday and go have a check up to be on the safe site. Thanks again, I will let you know what happenes, Raid.
