Then out of the blue i had 4 seizures in the space of 24 hours with no obvious triggers they started at 4am and literally came out of nowhere then in the week i have had two more .. Does anyone know what brings seizures on after such a long time and are you ever truly epilepsy free? .. So far had blood tests done which have all came back normal still waiting on being refered to neurology ... And help and advice would be appreciated

Epileosy is a fluid condition

Epileosy is a fluid condition. I can get better, it can get worse, it can go away, it can come back etc.Age, weight changes, hormonal changes, health changes etc.etc. can affect the condition and treatment. With age metabolism starts slowing down, your body is slower to fight or contain conditions. You were in your 20s since last time, so a lot have changed in your body since then. Treatment reassessment and a new eeg are the bone to steps. Good luck and I hope u feel better!

I agree with the previous

I agree with the previous comment. I have epilepsy due to a traumatic brain injury sustained in a car wreck. I was controlled for 24 years and then it fell apart. I did have 2 accidents within 6 months that both smacked my head pretty good and then the Tegretol just stopped working and auras were pretty much constant.. May be coincidence, may be additional head trauma. Auras had literally become non-stop for me, but no full blown seizures.  I had a 72 hour EEG and my seizure activity had become nearly constant at every 30 seconds. 24 years ago they were exactly 3 hours apart. I've grown older, gained weight and hit menopause in the past few years and I'm sure it all contributes to my body's ability to sustain the same med effectively.I stopped seeing a neurologist after years without symptoms. My PCP said maybe I don't need meds anymore. I changed PCPs. I have a neurologist again and she's fresh out of school. She moved me to Keppra and that didn't work, even after huge doses. Finally landed in Vimpat and it's working well. Maybe it's time to try something new. You may have become immmne to your meds or maybe time has taken a toll on your body in other ways that render your old med less effective.I hope you get it resolved with minimal impact on you. Good luck!Susan
