Seizure and drinking

Wed, 03/11/2015 - 17:41

I had a seuIzure 2 years ago, which was after a heavy night of drinking. I went to hospital and then had a 2nd seizure at hospital. I surrendered my driving licence and had all the relevant tests (MRI, EEG) which all came back clear.

Last week I went away partying with my friends. I had a heavy night drinking with very little sleep (4 hrs) and far too much booze (mixing drink too). The following afternoon, I had a seizure and complained of a headache before having the seizure.

Can I put it down to too much booze and not enough sleep? Or should I see the doctor for further tests?

I know one thing, no more binge drinking.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I had my share of drinkig and never had a seizure. I also know that a person can be at a point where they may have seizures if the trigers hit just right. If you think it is just because you got took much alcohol then do some more thinking. I will not lecture you but I will say. "Go to a neurologist sepcializes in epilepsy. Tell him about the issues you posted. I can tell you a lot about people whos tests came back normal. The brain may look like others brains do, However the EEG can come back normal. The thought is most people think the EEG shows all electrical activity. Wellllllll the EEG can only read activity to a certain depth. If the abnormalities are deeper you can have seizures (epilepsy) and the tests would all be normal
