Seizure alert pets

Wed, 03/14/2007 - 01:33
In 2002 at the age of 25 yrs old. I hade a major stroke, leaving me with seizures. At that time I was inacoma (sp) for 3 months. I have a 7 month old kitten, there have been times when I fell a seizure coming on. It seems as if he knows. He gets in my face licking me and at times nibbling on me. I think he's trying to keep me alert. When it goes through he goes back to being a typical kitten. How is it a cat/dog can sense when something like that is happening? PLease help me out with this odd question/story. McKenzie~

theres a chemical balance that changes in the body before a seizure.I know that with seizure disorder dogs they sense that chemical change a 1/2 hr before a seizure.that is how they are able to alert you that you are going to have one.

Thanks for that info: I was never aware that it was the chenical change that they can sense. Where I live I can't have a pet over 30lb. I've been trying to get a dog for that reason. My kitten is my baby, I never thought he could sense that happening.

Hey there - I've seen someone post this reference before: www.epilepsy.com/articles/ar_1084289240.html Says it's for dogs, but he can't read. I think a pet elephant could sense things we're oblivious to like auras and such as well. I just don't have the room for one at this point though. :) Caboose.
