seizure alert dogs

Wed, 01/20/2016 - 11:50

While I know the official Epilepsy Foundation stand on Seizure Alert Dogs is that they have not been proven, I can speak from personal experience. I have both epileptic and psychiatric seizures and got a service dog 6 years ago. Samson never once missed a seizure, occassionally alerting even when he was off duty. He would give me an average of 20 minute warning. Unfortunately Samson passed away last April. I have a new one being trained but he will cost me about $16,000 counting all expenses. I have raised about 13,500 of that. Has anyone tried fund raising activities that work? I'd love any ideas. Thanks, Annmarie
