Possible Seizures

Hi everyone!  I am always a little uncertain about coming to a dedicated forum without a diagnosis so I do hope that isn't offensive to anyone.

I am 34 years old and over the past few months have had several "falls", some of which led to bumps to the head.  I wouldn't say any of these bumps have seemed overly serious (though upon recent reading I see they can be worse than they appear and will be more careful to be checked from now on)

At first, I thought these were just falls, but in the past couple of weeks they have for some reason become more frequent.  When I went to see my GP, he called an ambulance and I had what the paramedics described as a "conscious collapse" as they arrived.  I was monitored in hospital for a few hours but there were no further concerns at that time.  I have had an array of bloods done and will be having heart and renal ultrasounds etc. however my GP believes that I have some form of epilepsy.  I had never come by adult onset?

These collapses have been described as me dropping and then falling forward - which is the point at which the bumps occur, thankfully not from standing height. I am told I am somewhat blank often before it happens, and sometimes blank without it happening.  I don't think I have ever lost consciousness with these collapses.

That said, he asked a lot of questions, and I was able to tell him that all of my life I have had what I presume is normal jerks/full body spasm when in the car, going fast and have light flickering through trees - my whole body does massive jumps - for some reason it hasn't happened when driving, only as a passenger. My father told me they are like a normal type of seizure that a lot of people can have but not related to epilepsy, and in my family unless you are bleeding to death, you don't complain so I never thought about it again.

I also have the same jump often - Oddly I feel it like a little jump in my left buttock, then the top of my body jumps - the same type of jump like when you are falling asleep and jerk awake again - again, I assume these are normal?

A few times I have had what I thought were occipital migraines I guess from Dr. Google - I will be just sitting there and then all of a sudden very "psychadelic" rainbows will fill my left eye to the point that is all I can see through it - even when I close it, the light/colour spirals around, this lasts around half an hour.

These past few weeks, I have had a few little things that are different but I wouldn't say major - I have had odd flashes of white "light" float across or thought I saw dark objects move out the bottom or side of my eyes, these aren't like normal floaters, a little more distinct I guess.

I have had a couple of "nerve" type things I guess - I get a shiver in mostly the left half of my body and it is like it never completes - like a shiver down the spine that doesn't have that grand finale so to speak - it kind of runs from the middle of my back, down my arm (usually only forearm and hand) and down to my knee.  I also noticed I can get what feels like real vibration within both feet up to my ankles when sitting sometimes - but I guess these things could be just a little pinch in a nerve maybe?

The only other thing I could think of is that I have mentioned several times over the past six months that I feel my mental stength and sharpness is deteriorating - I am very forgetful and I often have a lot of difficulty articulating my thoughts, I stammer and I definitely do not feel as intelligent as I used to.  I have poor executive functioning and logic.

Is my GP overthinking this?  I don't know much about epilepsy or seizures but I just had never heard of someone having an adult onset, and I am not sure that what I am having sounds like a seizure? I don't know what is/isn't related to what is happening in my body! I know noone here can diagnose me or anything, I suppose I just am feeling a little lost!

Is it heard of to have an adult onset?

I would dearly love anyone to weight in with ANYTHING!  Thank you so much for your time!

Anybody at any time can have epilepsy. A lot of the things you posted could be seizures or parts of seizures. If this were me I would be asking my GP for a referal to a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy. You are right when you posted that the seizures become more frequent and stronger without getting them taken care of. I hope this helps and you get the assistance you need and get seizure freeJoe
