Positive VNS

Fri, 01/12/2007 - 21:06
I saw my neurologist today after one month of having the VNS activated and he said, "I can see a difference in you already." I feel so much more energetic, alert, fewer auras, and feel good about the surgery. The only problems I am experiencing are insomnia from my brain being stimulated and restless leg syndrome. He offered two meds but I declined and said I'd wait to see if it got any worse. Hopefully we'll try to decrease one of the seizure medications in the next 6 months (Carbatrol/Trileptal). It seems so strange to feel better after years of feeling so icky. I am underemployed, live with my folks, single, not using the 4 year degree I earned in 1984 all due to the seizure disorder/depression. So now I wonder-can I move, get a job where I can afford to live on my own, meet someone, change my life. I don't know if I can do these things but the future looks much brighter these days. Jean
