Not sure if this is the appropriate place or not

I have for about 8 months now been having visual disturbances (Teleopsia is the closest my neurologists have been able to place it) followed by a weak feeling, and my folks say I stare for a bit when they happen. As far as I can tell they happen about 6 times a day, more or less depending on the day. I saw a specialist in Richmond VA, a Dr. Felton who after a few tests said they were Migranes, without the headaches; he also said that they could also be seizures, but thats a lot less likely. One of the problems im having is, he said people don't get migranes every day - yeat i'm having on average 6 of these a day? I have been placed on Verapamil 160mg 2 times a day. He has ordered an EEG and an inspection of my optic nerve. I've already had an MRI done - came back fine. I was wondering if theres any recorded information thats similar to this, or if anyone can let me know something. I'm not allowed to drive (which is understandable) but frustrating. Mainly I would like to know whats wrong with me... Kind of a pain not knowing what the hell is wrong with you. And having these things hit you randomly during the day.

One question: You mentioned that your folks say you stare for a bit. Are you aware you are staring? I promise, I'll explain the reason for that question after your reply. ~sol

Hi again, Please know that I am NO physician (artist yes, physician no), however I'm somone who's had E for 49 years and who has been doing reseach lately. I'm in no position to diagnose you, but as you will ,see via the site I give you to read, your experience does sound similar to epilepsy. The site below deals witrh symptoms of a seizure. (Btw.. there are more than 40 types & what you see in movies is only one) Written by epileptologists (= neurologists that have advanced education in & focus on the more than 40 types of E) you can trust ther contents is accurate. In most cases, regular neurologists don't have as deep an understanding of E, as they focus on both the entire brain and spinal column.. and don't have formal advanaced education re: E. http://www.epilepsy.com/101/ep101_symptom.html Note: 'Visual loss or blurring' is in the list of early seizure warnings Note: 'Black out' can be a symptom of a seizure Note: 'Weakness' & 'headaches' are both post-ictal ('ictal' meams seizure) symptoms. I cannot say for sure, but (IMO) there are enough parallels to warrant you getting some tests. The sooner you gauge 'what' this is - the sooner you are on the road to recovery. Know I wish you the very best, ~sol
