Is This Normal?

A little background... I'm a 29 year old female. I had my first seizure when I was 13 in my sleep, diagnosed as a grand mal (tonic clonic) seizure and had another one that same day while in the hospital during an EEG. No known cause. After that, I was put on Depakote which I was taken off after I developed an ovarian cyst. I was then put on Topamax for a short period of time, then got off it after my concentration started dragging and my grades dropped. I've been on Keppra ever since. At first I was on a very high dosage before they realized people could do well on lower - I was on 3000mg 2x daily. I felt like a zombie. I talked to my doc and was weaned down to 750mg 2x daily. I did well on that dosage for years until my psychiatrist had me try a new antidepressant, Latuda, which she didn't pay attention to because a side effect could be seizures. Weeks later, I had one. More than 10 years after my first, in my sleep again. I was soooo angry because I was to the point they were going to allow me to try and get off them completely, but my neuro said if I had them at all I am prone to them, so he upped my dosage to 1000mg 2x daily and I've been there ever since. Fast forward to 3 years later. This past Monday, out of nowhere, I had another one. Same deal, during my sleep. They didn't do an EEG in the ER, but checked my blood and said my Keppra levels were fine and couldn't find any cause. The only suggestion they had was stress (we just moved across the country back home, and just got a house and are moving in). I had a pretty bad headache that day and some dizziness and nausea. TODAY, 4 DAY LATER: I'm still feeling a little dizzy/lightheaded, nauseous, and just off. My head has a bit of a dull ache, mostly in the morning. IS THIS NORMAL? I never remember what this feels like, but I'm just wondering if this is typical after a tonic clonic seizure? How long can it take to feel normal again? Thanks! -Danielle

well moving across the country is stressful and finding a house and moving in is too but combined you may have double the stress. The head ache and dizziness could have been parts of seizure ending up with your grand mal seizure. Each persons seizure is different and their bodies are different so that is the reason it takes longer to get back to normal. For your protection with each doctor you get make sure they have all the medications you take, Something that helps with one ailment can counter your other meds and that can cause seizures (breakthrough).I hope this helpsJoe

Thanks Joe! Luckily I'm only

Thanks Joe! Luckily I'm only on 2 prescriptions, so that makes it easier. He may want to up my Keppra dose now that I've had a breakthrough seizure. Hoping I'm feeling more normal by then... Still feeling pretty nauseous today, and I keep waking up really early and have a hard time falling back asleep after it happened. Hoping my tiredness will help me sleep all through the night tonight!
