Nighttime seizure activity

Thu, 08/24/2006 - 07:01
Hi all. I am starting to suspect nocturnal seizures based on a pattern of waking feeling a surge of panic/fear, then going right back to sleep only to awake a little while later w/ the same feeling. Took me two hours to get into a deep sleep b/c this happened for so long last night. It even happened while I was drowsy and laying in bed waiting for my husband to come to bed. I have read that noc seizures are often tonic-clonic. I only appear to have simple partials, so is it possible these are also simple-partials? Does anyone else experience this and if so, what can you tell me? Thanks, Sam

just wandering if any one can help, i have a 12 yr old son, who has been having homeopathic treatment for night terrors for the last 12 months, jumps out of bed, heart racing sweating and in a sheer panic trying to get out of the house. have even caught him trying to jump out of the window.when he wakes he can not recall any of it. as a baby he suffered with convulsions and saw a neurologist because of jerking movements during his sleep. last night i noticed that as he was sleeping the left side of his body was jerking like a spasm movement every couple of minutes, is it possible this is night time epilepsey and how can i get this diagnosed

Hi Sam, My nocturnals were always complex partials or sometimes secondarily generalized. They always hit as I was just falling alseep, and I wouldn't wake afterward (except once). I only knew of them if hubby told me and/or if I woke in the morning feeling very physically exhausted. I had no memory of the events at all. My first secondarily generalized is when I was diagnosed and began treatment. I did awaken ten minutes (maybe?) after the event to seeing paramedics standing in my room at my bedside. I shrieked, sitting up, and then laid back down to go to sleep. I was absolutely exhausted and couldn't keep my eyes open. I hope that you get answers soon, best of luck to you! Heather

I also experience this. I had a sleep study, and was told I was having hundreds of seizures in my sleep, enough to disturb my sleep. Unfortunately I have to take a sleep medicine to keep me in the sleep state, or I wake up constantly. I have partials, tle.
