Night seizures or panic attacks?

Sun, 07/06/2014 - 22:20

Hi Everyone,

I am wondering if anyone can relate to what I am experiencing.
I am 30 years old, suffer from alot of anxiety in general so I am wondering if I am having a possible panic attack.

In the middle of the night I wake up to myself bounding out of my bed, my heart beating out of my chest and just a 'weird' feeling, I start to panic and think I am going to have a seizure.. I try to splash water on my face and calm myself down - my teeth start chattering and my arms fly around (like anxiety) but I just don't feel quite right. It is hard to explain. I can't differentiate between if this is a panic attack or maybe some sort of seizure and it's really scary and confusing.

My normal seizures are full grand mal ones so I am not sure if this is related.

It is so unpleasant and I am tired the next day.

Has anyone else had this type of thing?

It really feels strange and not quite right in the head.. I am really struggling to explain it. There is no aura like smell or anything though.

Thanks in advance,
Laura

Hi Laura What you posted

Hi Laura What you posted could be seizures. Just because the only seizures you have had were grand mal does not mean you can't have other types of seizures. As Mereloaded posted on her comment you may be having complex partial seizures. If I were you I would call my neurologist and discuss this with him.Especially if your arms are moving around without you moving them yourself. I hope you get the assistance you need Joe
