Night Seizure Symptoms?

Tue, 10/31/2006 - 12:31
Does anybody have these symptoms with their night seizures? As I am in the process of falling asleep or as I am waking up I get what feels like a lightning bolt about 4 inches above my left ear, it feels like my heart stops beating for about two beats, I can't breathe and I feel like I am choking until my heart starts beating again. I am on 1000mg Keppra and 150mg Topamax. Neuro added 75mg Effexor in August to counteract side effects of Keppra(panic attacks). Didn't have night seizures before he added Effexor, when he first added it I was seizure free. After he added it, the night seizures weren't frequent or severe. After first month of Effexor, insurance company wouldn't pay, said it wasn't on their approved list. I had to switch to Lexapro. Lexapro didn't work, but I didn't have night seizures. Switched back to Effexor(insurance co approved),night seizures came back worse than before. I am fine during the day other than starting to have headaches in area where lightning stab is hitting, but nights beginning to get terrible. Symptoms are starting to scare me. Wondering if there is some sort of antagonism between the two medications even though neuro and pharmacist says no. I don't see neuro for another two weeks. Hate two change meds again. I do really well on Keppra and Topamax during the day for simple partial seizures, just can't handle Keppra side effects. Thought maybe someone could shed some light. Kelly
