New/old epilepsy

Hello all, A long time ago I was unofficially diagnosed with epilepsy. I was about 15 and in the psychologists office. My dad was in the room with me when I ended up describing the symptoms of an aura. The next day he scheduled me to see his neurologist(he has a temporal lobe seizure disorder) sure enough, the EEG showed brainwave activity consistent with temporal lobe seizures. The good news is that because I have never had a seizure I am not officially diagnosed. Which eliminates a lot of medical waivers I would need for my job. I was then started in carbamazepine and the fog cleared in my head. My organization got better, etc. But my dad, who was also on carbamazepine had a bone density scan and it showed severe degradation. Because he started taking it much later in life than i, I was headed down that road sooner. Thus we were both switched to keppra. The weaning was brutal, I was tired all the time. Once I reached therapeutic levels, it went away. I did like the fact that it doesn't interact with penicillin and that I no longer had an increased appetite. I didn't like that it brought my pain tolerance back down to normal levels. Once I left home, I quit taking it. Determined to pretend I didn't need it. But my organization suffered, I had no memory, and I generally lives in a fog. No seizures or auras though. Recently, after 4 years I moved back in with my parents. They begged and pleaded, and I am now officially back on 750mg twice a day of keppra. I certainly hope this helps my mind. I certainly know it will keep me from having a siezure. Problem is, I'm only two doses in, and the drowsiness side effect has kicked in. I know it will go away once I am at therapeutic levels. But how do you cope with the drowsiness that occurs. I'm curious as to everyone's take on the matter.
